Salty-sweet, glossy, umami-rich and lightly caramelised. This is our Teriyaki Skewer.
The word teriyaki comes from Japanese: teri (照り), meaning the shine or lustre created by the sugar in the tare sauce, and yaki (焼き), meaning grilled or cooked over heat. It comes from Japan, around the Edo period (17th–19th century), and has since become recognised around the world.

Despite all that popularity, we always wondered, why should there not be a plant-based one? So we set off on an adventure to Japan (to defeat a dragon and find an ancient recipe in an oak wooden chest, obviously) and made a SHICKEN version.
Maybe it is because we earned the recipe by defeating a dragon. Or perhaps it is because simple ingredients such as soya sauce, garlic, ginger and a little granulated sugar can do rather wonderful things. Either way, our Teriyaki Skewer was recognised with a 2-star Great Taste Award (please let little SHICKEN Teriyaki be proud, only 10% of entries that year won 2 stars).
